Class: 1st to 2nd - Lesson: 3 Basic Computer Usage (Keyboard)

Purpose: To learn keyboard usage - lower and upper case alphabets, numerical keys, and special keys (Enter, Arrow keys, Number Lock and Escape). Optional for I and II std.

    Teacher Instructions
    1. Teachers should help students improve their typing skills.
    2. Use the terms "keyboard", "upper case", "alphabet keys" and "lower case" while teaching.
    3. Students should practise using the keyboard through GCompris.
    4. Help students understand the systematic procedures involved in the games.
    5. Students must become familiar with typing.
    6. Teachers should ensure that students understand the proper use of the special keys.
    7. Students should start using the keyboard and typing letters comfortably.
    8. The keyboard can also be practised in Tux Typing and Tux of Math Command.
    9. Teachers should press the Number Lock and Escape keys in the middle of a game, so that students notice the effect.
